One Book, One Federation is announced !
About the Book
Héroïnes Françaises, 1940-1945: Courage, Force et Ingéniosité, by Professor Monique Saigal, is a powerful look at the heroism and courage of the women who fought in the French Resistance during World War II. Saigal, herself a child of the Occupation, documents the stories of eighteen women who fought against the Nazis in France. In her research, Professor Saigal interviewed former Resistance fighters in France, Switzerland, and California, and in this volume has presents a remarkable and unique look at the struggles of women in France during the Second World War. Standout stories of the book include:
Lucie Aubrac, a young woman who rescued her husband from a Nazi prison three times.
Jeanne Bohec, who enlisted in the French free army in Britain where she built explosives and parachuted into France to train fellow combatants in her skills.
Brigitte Friang, who joined the Resistance while in high school, and intercepted and decoded secret transmissions from Nazi Germany as a teenager.
